Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I report a claim?

Please visit the Carriers page and follow the instructions beside the insurance company listed on your policy. If you need help or do not know who your insurance carrier is, please contact our office at 866-992-3838. We would also be happy to assist you with your claim.

Q: Do I need an appointment?

No, walk-ins are welcome at our office at 500 New York Ave, Des Moines, 50313, Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. However, it is best to call ahead to ensure an insurance agent is available.

Q: What do I need to get an insurance quote?

It depends on the type of insurance you are looking for. If you already have insurance, bringing us a copy of your current policy would be a good starting point. Otherwise, in most cases, we will need your name, date of birth, driver license information, and details on the assets you are hoping to insure. We may also need your social security number and information for additional family members.

Q: How does the bonding process work?

You must first apply. Be prepared to tell us the type of bond you need, the penalty amount and the term. We will ask you for more information in order to complete the application for your bond. The application and decision process will typically take from 5 minutes to 2 days. Larger risks that require a more thorough evaluation may take longer.

Please understand that bond underwriting decisions are often based on your credit score, regardless of who you call. Depending on the type of bond you require, the surety company may need to pull your credit to reach a decision.

If your bond is approved, you must pay for it and then file it with the appropriate authority or provide it to the party requiring it where applicable.

Q: If my quote or bond is provided electronically, how do I view it?

Electronic quotes and bonds will be provided in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Reader installed on your computer, you can download it here:

Q: Do I have to pay to get a quote from Performance Insurance?

Nope. Like about everyone else, our quotes are "free" and you are under no obligation to purchase anything.

Q: Can you sell me a AAA membership?

In the upper Midwest, yes! If you don't already have one, we strongly recommend AAA. We believe the roadside benefits (like towing), alone, are worth the money.

Q: Is my information secure?

Yes! We keep all information secure and it is handled in accordance with GLBA Safeguard Rules, HIPAA, and the FTC Disposal Rule.
